Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking a Carpenter Helper to join our team You will work with a Project Manager on the implementation of the construction process.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Basic Carpentry Tasks: Help the lead carpenter with tasks such as measuring, cutting, and installing wood, plywood, and drywall.
  • Tool Management: Prepare and organize tools and materials, ensuring the lead carpenter has everything needed for the job.
  • Site Preparation and Cleanup: Assist in setting up the job site at the beginning of the day and cleaning up debris and tools at the end of the day.
  • Material Handling: Transport materials like lumber, tools, and equipment to different areas of the job site.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Learning and Development: Continuously learn and improve carpentry skills under the guidance of the lead carpenter.
  • Assisting with Installations: Help with the installation of structures like framing, siding, windows, doors, and cabinetry.
  • Reading Blueprints and Plans: Aid in interpreting and following construction blueprints and plans.
  • Measuring and Marking: Measure and mark materials for cutting and assembly as directed by the lead carpenter.
  • Supporting Other Trades: Occasionally assist other tradespeople on-site, such as electricians, plumbers, or painters, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Carpentry Knowledge: Understanding of basic carpentry techniques and tools, with some experience in construction or woodworking.
  • Physical Strength and Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for precision in measurements and installations to ensure high-quality work.
  • Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to learn new skills and techniques from experienced carpenters and other tradespeople.
  • Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform simple calculations for measurements, cutting, and assembly.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of basic safety practices and the ability to adhere to safety protocols on the job site.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well with others, taking direction from lead carpenters and collaborating with the construction team.
  • Reliability and Punctuality: Consistent attendance and punctuality, with a strong work ethic.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate with team members, asking questions when needed and following instructions accurately.
  • Familiarity with Tools: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, such as hammers, saws, drills, and tape measures.
  • Driver's License and Transportation: A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: While not always required, a high school diploma or GED is often preferred.
