Primary Position Objective

The Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for monitoring and completing work activities related to bankruptcy actions in accordance with statutory compliance, regulatory compliance, and company guidelines.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process new bankruptcy filings to determine if a referral to counsel is required.
  • Setup bankruptcy cases in MSP & BKFS and track according to case updates.
  • Prepare and submit Proof of Claims via PACER.
  • Provide the assigned attorney or respective client with accurate bankruptcy figures for bankruptcy actions.
  • Reconcile accounts that require post-petition fee notices.
  • Process payments and review suspense reports for appropriate application of funds.
  • Work with attorneys to file Motions for Relief and reaffirmation agreements.
  • Frequently communicate with clients on Bankruptcy inquiries via phone, email and video calls.
  • Follow departmental and regulatory procedures with strict adherence.
  • Develop and maintain procedures as appropriate.
  • Conduct searches of current or previous bankruptcy cases using PACER and NDC.
  • Process trustee or bankruptcy notifications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager.

Demonstrate the ability to be able to think on your feet and provide sound, out of the box solutions and/or options that best serves the clients and the consumer’s interests while being compliant with local, state, federal and company regulations. 

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of Bankruptcy and Credit Reporting procedures.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Minimum 1+ Years Mortgage Servicing Experience Preferred.
  • Minimum 1+ Years of Bankruptcy and Credit Reporting Experience Preferred.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary internal and external customer service.
  • High School Diploma and or College Degree preferred but not necessary.
  • Well versed with FDCPA, FCRA, CFPB.
  • Strong comfort level with technology, including ability to adapt to new systems quickly and easily.  Thorough knowledge of and comfort with the Microsoft office suite applications. 

Physical Requirements

  • Talking - Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing - Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Repetitive Motion - Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Vision - Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
  • Physical Strength - Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.  Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
