The Extrusion Machine Operator will setup extrusion and downstream equipment, assists in job startup and maintains efficient operations in the production of plastic extrusion profiles.  The Extrusion Machine Operator will position various upstream and downstream equipment into place, monitor its operation, produce retain samples, package the product and record work activity on production documentation.  The Extrusion Machine Operator will clean equipment at the completion of a production order.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist Shift Leader to assemble extrusion line with appropriate equipment. 
  • Assist Shift Leader to set up and start extrusion equipment.
  • Carry out production, inspection, packaging and machine operation duties
  • Effectively monitor production equipment and report issues to Shift Leader.
  • Set up machinery and ensure all materials are readily available
  • Check parts to meets specifications and report discrepancies to Shift Leader.  .
  • Clean up extruder and other equipment at the end of a job run.
  • Obtain retain samples as required.
  • Record quantities produced on the setup sheet.
  • Perform appropriate duties as assigned by management
  • Maintain a safe and clean work space
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Blend colorant into raw materials if required on setup sheet.
  • Fill hopper with raw materials
  • Package and palletize the finished parts as required on the setup sheet.
  • Regrind materials and place in labeled container.
  • Perform secondary operation on the parts as required on setup sheet.
  • Retrieve material from the warehouse as needed.
  • Assist with loading trucks with materials and finished goods.
  • Use of a forklift to retrieve and move materials and finished goods.
  • Clean up the extrusion area at the end of the shift.
