Job DescriptionJob Description

The Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Boys Chorus, now celebrating its 76th year, is seeking to fill positions on the artistic staff. Candidates should:

 

- enjoy working with children

- understand healthy vocal technique for boys and be able to teach it

- have a degree in music

- have experience directing choruses, especially children’s choruses

- possess excellent organizational skills

- be able to communicate clearly, through spoken and written word, with children, parents and guardians, other chorus staff, and the public

- be self-starters, designing rehearsal routines and approaches that best serve a particular group of choristers

- be team players, working closely with other directors and with accompanists to propose suitable repertoire, rehearse assigned pieces, assist in large rehearsals involving groups of various ages and abilities, and provide feedback to choristers, chorus families, and staff as appropriate

 

The Chorus’ season will begin in late August 2024 and conclude in June 2025. Ideally candidates will be available for summer camps next year. Regular rehearsals take place after school on Mondays and Wednesdays in San Francisco, and Tuesdays and Thursdays in San Mateo.
