Director of Surveying

MG2A is seeking a land surveyor with a current professional land surveyors license (PLS) to add strength and manage a team out of our office in Manhattan, Illinois. The position will entail overseeing field work, performing research, and oversight of documents and plats related to ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys for design project support, and construction layout and control. The land surveyor will report to the Vice President of Surveying.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee Boundary, Topographic, and Alta Surveys.
• Prepare construction staking and as built surveys and set site control points.
• Perform county research and review documents in order to complete survey objectives.
• Review client records in order to complete survey objectives.
• Consult with clients, team members and site superintendents/construction crews on projects.
• Provide technical expertise, as it relates to land surveying, to colleagues and partners.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

• Illinois Professional Land Surveyor License (PLS)
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Proper operation and care of robotic total station, data collector, and GPS instruments
• Preparation of organized and appropriate field notes
• Thorough and thoughtful research that includes Alta title documents, county records, and data shared by peers
• Attention to detail while preparing and checking documents
