Established, award-winning, veteran-owned canvas shop looking for a motivated individual to fill a full-time industrial sewing position with a strong focus on cushions and upholstery. A minimum of 2 years of commercial sewing and upholstery experience and proficiency in operating an industrial sewing machine is required. Please specify related experience when applying. Hands-on, on-the-job training provided for the right person with the right attitude.

Signature CanvasMakers LLC designs and manufactures canvas, cushions and textile products for government, commercial and recreational users. No phone calls or walk-ins please.

DUTIES & COMPETENCIES:

- Sewing materials related to a marine-focused industry including, but not limited to: acrylic fabric, vinyls, screens, zippers, and clear vinyls
- Operating an industrial sewing machine
- Assembling projects with multiple components and varying degrees of complexity
- Producing high-quality products with close attention to detail and efficiency
- Learning and retaining new skills and techniques
- Following processes and standards
- Read and comprehend work orders, assembly guides and effectively take direction
- Follow the instructions of the lead seamstress and project manager
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Must have good interpersonal skills and work ethic
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to independently follow through on all assignments to completion
- Accurately measure using 12 inch rule, yardstick, and measuring tape
- Must have good hand and upper body strength to move material around the table and manipulate it through the sewing machine
- Making minor adjustments and cleaning to sewing machine for optimal performance and quality

CONDITIONS:
- Must have a knowledge of sewing techniques and sewing machine operation
- Ability to pass a sewing skills assessment
- Must be able to stand and move about the shop for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English
- Must have a valid driver's license & reliable transportation
- Past commercial sewing experience of at least 2 years is required.
