Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Barista & Cafe Trainer to play a pivotal role in the opening and training phase of our new cafe. As the Lead Barista, you will be responsible for upholding our commitment to quality, creating memorable experiences for our guests, and ensuring that our cafe operates smoothly from day one. Additionally, you will have the exciting opportunity to train our team of baristas to deliver exceptional service and uphold our standards of excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the management team to develop beverage menus that showcase locally-sourced ingredients and cater to families with small children.

  • Lead by example in providing outstanding customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests of all ages.

  • Train and mentor barista staff in the art of coffee preparation, customer interaction, and cafe operations.

  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure seamless coordination between coffee service and food offerings.

  • Maintain inventory levels and place orders for coffee supplies, ensuring freshness and quality.

  • Uphold health and safety standards in accordance with local regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a barista in a high-volume cafe environment, with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • A passion for coffee and a strong understanding of espresso extraction, milk steaming, and latte art techniques.

  • Current California Food Handler's Card

  • Experience training and mentoring staff, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Knowledge of local ingredients and a commitment to sustainability is a plus.
