Job DescriptionJob Description

Job Mission:

To develop healthy self-esteem and social competency in children and to build collaborative relationships among children, families, staff, mental health professionals and the larger community. To enhance awareness and understanding of child development and how behavioral therapy contributes to the wellness of all children and families.

Performance Standards:

1. Create and implement positive behavior support plans, including providing observations and strategies to teachers, support staff, and parents/caregivers during Positive Strategy Interventions. Maintain confidentiality regarding student behavior plans and the information discussed during PSI meetings.

2. Conduct child development trainings for parents and staff.

3. Model for teachers in the classroom appropriate effective behavioral interventions that support child development and well-being.

4. Complete all reporting requirements.

5. Carries out all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications:

1. Bachelor Degree required in psychology or related subject. Masters Degree preferred. BCABA (Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst) or BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) preferred.

2. One (1) year of experience in early childhood education and training or equivalent combination.

3. One (1) year of experience with the ASQ (Ages and Stages), DECA, and Second Step.

4. One (1) year experience working with low income, preschool families of diverse racial, social and cultural backgrounds.

5. Experience working with the High Scope curriculum and ABA Therapy or Head Start preferred.

6. Valid Michigan Driver’s License required. Reliable transportation to visit Early Head Start and Head Start sites throughout Oakland County.

Physical Job Description:

Job Requirements in an 8 hour workday: Sit: 3 hours- this position varies daily, driving to multiple sites and several floors; Walk: 3 hours- included walking up/down three flights of steps; Stand: 1 hour- picking up of files, supplies and loading/unloading them; Bend/Stoop: 1 hour- interactions with children, families, and staff on a daily basis. Movements: Yes: Reach Above, Crouch, Squat, Shoulder level, Kneel, & Pushing. Weight Carried: 26-50 LBS; Weight Lifted: 26-50 LBS.
