Precision Irrigation Field Technician
 Gradient Crop Yield Solutions is an agriculture technology business (a subsidiary of The Morning Star Company). Through the implementation of high-quality sensor technology, Gradient offers growers a platform to assist them to improve profitability of their agriculture operations. Irrigation monitoring services offered by Gradient include daily soil moisture, evapotranspiration, plant water stress index and high-definition satellite crop imagery. Gradient colleagues take pride in delivering first class customer service by assisting growers in their decision-making process to achieve better yields.

This position has the potential to become a full-time role.

The Mission and Position:
This Colleague’s Mission is, “to cooperate with growers, leveraging Gradient technology, to achieve the best crop yield and quality possible, while utilizing resources to their maximum efficiency and providing world-class customer service”

Specific activities will include at least the following:
  • Assist in the precise installation of sensor equipment in tomato, almond and pistachio fields.
  • Closely monitor daily data and timely inform lead tech and growers of any possible in field issues.
  • Repair damaged sensors in a timely manner.
  • Remove equipment in tomato fields at harvest time.
  • Maintain a high-level communication and service by enhancing valued grower relations.
  • Collaborate in research and development activities if required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to work under our system of Mission Focused Self-Management™ and be capable to perform the job unsupervised.
  • Some hands-on experience in agriculture.
  • Basic knowledge of soils and irrigation.
  • Driver’s License with clean driving record.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot weather conditions.
  • Ability to use a computer proficiently.
Compensation:
Comprehensive training offered in irrigation monitoring and soils. Starting wage will be $19-$24 per hour, in line with qualifications.
