Job DescriptionJob Description

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. This includes reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures. The ideal candidate is well-versed in accounting principles and practices and can perform complex financial analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, including monthly reconciliation of accounts.
  • Month-End Close: Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
