Camp Counselor

Camp HACCAMO is an overnight camp that serves individuals with disabilities from across Western NY. It is an overnight camp Monday - Friday for 2 weeks starting July 29 - August 9 with weekends off. First week campers are 7-18 years old while our second week is 19 - 30 year olds. Our campers range in disabilities but the more prominent ones are Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, and ODD(Oppositional Defiant Disorder). During our adult week, we also have a lot of individuals who use wheelchairs and/or AFOs.

Throughout the week you'll be working alongside other staff as you strive to make camp an accepting, adaptable and safe experience for all. The camp offers activities such as daily pool time, a rock climbing wall to a zipline, Alpacas and Chickens at our nature center and miniature golf just to name a few.

Pay: $375-500 per week(depending on position) plus room and board throughout the week and $100 for our 2 day training

Hours: Everyday from 7:30am - 9:30pm, will be asked to sleep in cabins 1-2 nights a week, Each counselor will get 2, 1 hour breaks.

Job Status: Part-time and Full-time

Essential Job Functions:

• Develop, lead, implement, and monitor daily activities for their campers.

• Be a role model for all campers through appropriate language, attitude, engagement level, participation, and positive interaction.

• Provide supervision and oversight during meals.

• Help campers adapt to various activities

• Required to participate in all Camp duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

• Ability to lead and manage a group of counselors and campers
