Summit Schaumburg, IL currently has an open position for an Etch Operator (2nd shift). Summit Interconnect is a manufacturer of advanced technology printed circuit boards with a specific focus on complex rigid and rigid-flex product with unique expertise in RF/Microwave applications.

The Etcher will perform Stripping (Resist), Etching and Stripping (Tin) of Outer Layers (for Panel plating). Obtain resist thickness and copper weight(s) from traveler. Set appropriate speed on conveyor line and determine proper Tin stripping break point and for chemistry used, determine etching parameters, and inspect panel quality, which includes line/space optical measurements. Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning screens, chemical replenishment's, monitoring and periodic adjustments of speed, temperature and/or chemical levels. Perform chemical dump/makeup and/or additions under Lab direction.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a minimum of four (4) years in the printed circuit board industry and must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Responsibilities:

  • To operate all, Develop, Etching and Stripping (SES) line equipment with little supervision.
  • To make set-up decisions which conform to customer specifications.
  • To evaluate and discontinue processing of non-conforming product and report it to manager.
  • To follow production control scheduling.
  • To maximize productivity.
  • To review all travelers.
  • Assure machines are running properly.
  • To assure PM’s are complete.
  • To run first articles.

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of industry standards and appropriate application.
  • Must be able to cooperate and communicate effectively with management and supervisory staff.
  • Ability to effectively follow company systems and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision.
  • Strong knowledge in military and rigid flex boards.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

  • Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in the printed circuit industry, and three (3) years in rigid flex experience.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift to 20 lbs.

Compensation/Benefits: Summit offers a variety of health and benefit programs. Which include Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA plans, Hospital and Accident plans, Life Insurance, PTO, and Paid Holidays. Benefits are effective 1st day of the month following date of hire.

Pay Range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00 hour based on experience.
