Senior Staff Accountant/Manager

Centre is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant/Manager with experience to lead our accounting team. The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience using government contracting software. We use Unanet but will accept an applicant who is proficient in similar accounting software and is a quick learner on new software. You will report directly to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

Applies advanced accounting skills to perform and/or oversee routine and non-routine tasks involving the processing and reconciliation of receivables, billing, accounts payable, contract revenue calculations, contract cost accumulation and reporting, indirect rate calculations, fixed assets, general ledger, preparing financial statements, and supporting compliance audits and government reporting.

Reviews the processing for accuracy and internal controls of others in:

  • o Processing accounts payable from invoice entry through cutting checks.
  • o A/R - billing of customer invoices and collection of customer payments.
  • o Monthly bank reconciliations.
  • o General ledger account reconciliations.
  • o Organizing and maintaining all vendor and accounting records.

Maintains complete control of the balance sheet ensuring all reconciliations are completed monthly.

Creates job cost and contract reporting for government contracts.

Processes payroll, enters payroll journal entry and updates vacation balances. o Prepares and reviews monthly financials and reporting packages to include forecast schedules and dashboards.

Responsible for timing and quality of closing process/cycle.

Prepares complex financial reporting. Delivers required banking reports and analysis.

Conducts research & analysis, billed and unbilled receivable analysis and revenue recognition.

Develops and manages indirect rate structures, leads the development of the annual budgets, forecasts and incurred cost submissions.

Monitors cash flow.

Manages relationships with banking vendors and auditors.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

· Ability to work with minimal up-front guidance with accountability mindset for the work product.

· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience is required.

· Proficiency with general ledger, job costing, GAAP compliance a must.

· Strong understanding of Government contracting including compliance with the FAR and indirect rates.

· Strong expertise with Unanet or similar accounting software

· Highly organized. Tedious about record-keeping, file organization, etc.

· Able to handle competing deliverables with various levels of complexity.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to manage and ensure the quality of work of support staff.

· Must be able to isolate issues and define problems clearly and articulate solutions in a clear, concise, and consultative manner.

· A motivated self-starter with ability to multi-task, problem solve, and take initiative.
