Job Description

Reinicke Athens, Inc is a single-source steel fabricator and industrial construction firm providing a full range of design, engineering, fabrication and erection services. AISC certified in both fabrication and erection along with our complete in-house capabilities, enables fast response, maximum flexibility and complete coordination of all phases of any project. Our state-of-the-art facility includes sophisticated robotic equipment, in-house detailing, blasting and painting, including finish coatings.


Position Overview:

RAI is looking for an Estimator proficient in structural steel estimating including miscellaneous steel, stairs and handrails.  


Job Requirements:

  • 5 years minimum experience of progressive experience estimating heavy commercial or industrial steel projects
  • Experience utilizing Bluebeam & Tekla EPM/PowerFab (or other) where the focus is estimating steel projects from $1 to $15 million. We have transitioned to a model-based estimating approach to provide more value to our customers.
  • A good understanding of the AWS D1.1 welding code and AISC Steel Construction
  • Understanding means and methods of construction for the steel trades, including shop fabrication
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Good technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Basic Excel skills
  • Organizational and creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience communicating directly with subcontractors and GC/EPCs
  • Experience with writing proposals and performing post bid interviews strongly preferred.
  • 3D Modeling/steel detailing experience (SDS/2 or other) is a plus

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all phases of take-off and buyouts
  • Able to appropriately assign fabrication labor time for all shop functions and tasks by hand
  • Coordination of drawing & project scope review with bidding suppliers and subcontractors
  • Design drawings and specifications review using discretion, best judgment and evaluation of industry standards and practices to minimize various possibilities of risk
  • Experience to assist General Contractors in design development by making proper scope assumptions
