DMF Lighting has a role for a Jr. Buyer available in Carson, CA.

Under minimal supervision, follow up orders and shipments, and process data entry in the ERP system. In addition, purchase materials and supplies to maintain the monthly production and sales requirements. Assist other buyers as required and perform other tasks assigned by the Purchasing Manager or Sr. Director of Supply Chain.

This role is onsite in Carson, CA. 

The pay range is $21 - $24/ hour (based on skills/experience). 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Purchase materials and supplies according to approved requisitions, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or management requests.
  • Negotiate pricing terms and conditions with suppliers, logistic partners, and service providers and make recommendations for selection.
  • Negotiate transportation rates and/or services, audit freight cost and documentation, and obtain management approval.
  • Trace, track, and expedite purchase processes to ensure timely delivery of goods, changing vendors, quantities, and dates when necessary.
  • Maintain data in ORACLE or any other ERP system in the future.
  • Support commodity management strategies and tactical plans including providing suggestions for changes and improvements.
  • Support spend-productivity programs, including but not limited to, make/buy, alternate supplier strategy, supplier consolidation, low cost country sourcing, including program development and improvement.
  • Support New Product Development teams to provide sourced solutions and optimize the supply chain.
  • Identify supply risk and provide potential solutions and mitigation plans.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to appropriate suppliers within specified time frames.
  • Verify purchasing practices comply with established laws, policies, and ethical principles.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager or Sr. Director of Supply Chain. 

 

Qualification Guidelines:

                                                                     

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred and/or 1-3 years equivalent experience in Purchasing.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing procedures/practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS, CPIM and/or purchasing certificate preferred.
  • Able to speak Mandarin/Cantonese preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications preferred.
  • Experience with ERP preferred.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational skills, professional phone etiquette, and knowledge of Accounting Principles.  
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified.
  • Must be proficient with Word, Excel and other spreadsheet software.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
