SUMMARY:

The Controller for Packaging Strategies, is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization. This includes managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, payroll, purchasing and tax preparation. The Controller is also responsible for ensuring that financial policies and procedures are followed and for implementing necessary internal controls to protect the organizations assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Overseeing the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  2. Managing the budgeting and forecasting process.
  3. Monitoring and analyzing financial date to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  4. Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and laws.
  5. Managing the accounting department.
  6. Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
  7. Providing financial analysis and support to the management team.
  8. Liaising with external auditors and tax authorities.
  9. Implementing internal controls to safeguard the organizations assets.
  10. Managing cash flow and working capital.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

Project Analysis:

  1. Review customer quotes to ensure minimum margin requirements are met or exceeded.
  2. Collaborate with the Sales and Engineering Design team to ensure accurate cost estimations.

Data Analysis and Cost Modeling:

  1. Utilize cost estimating software and tools to develop and archive accurate and detailed cost models for each project.
  2. Coordinate with the Executive Team to conduct data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies in the manufacturing process.
  3. Keep abreast of industry trends, market fluctuations, and material pricing to maintain competitiveness.

Collaboration and Communication:

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Production, Engineering and Procurement, to gather necessary information and ensure alignment on project requirements.
  2. Communicate cost estimates clearly and effectively to internal stakeholders and customers.
  3. Participate in project meetings and production meetings to provide insights into cost-related considerations and potential alternatives.

DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING:

  1. Maintain accurate and organized documentation of cost estimates, assumptions, and relevant data.
  2. Generate comprehensive reports detailing cost breakdowns, including materials, labor, overhead and profit margins.
  3. Provide periodic updates to management on cost estimation accuracy and opportunities for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, and or 5+ years related experience in a fast-paced organization preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and ethical business practices.
  • Must have excellent analytical, math and organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent written, negotiation, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, E2, QuickBooks and other appropriate software.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by the President.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, without advance notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and able to adapt to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
