Ballet Instructor

Description:

The Hanover Theatre Conservatory is seeking a highly qualified dance instructor to join our Dance Faculty. This individual must be capable of teaching introductory through more advanced ballet classes as students range in age from 7-18 years old and be certified to teach Progressing Ballet Technique. We are currently seeking someone available to teach on Tuesdays from 4-8:15PM beginning September 10 until May 13th. Classes include Pre-Ballet (Ages 7+), Progressing Ballet Technique Youth, Teen Ballet Beginner II and Progressing Ballet Technique Junior.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality ballet instruction to students from introductory to advanced classes.
  • Experienced at guiding students towards a culminating presentation (as applicable).
  • Provides each student with an evaluation at the end of the year (either verbal or written).
  • Follows general curriculum outlined for each class
  • Attends professional development sessions and staff meetings as required
  • Carries out administrative responsibilities (taking attendance, completing organization-wide trainings)
  • Participates in pre-planning and post-planning meetings as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing and available to work on-site in Worcester, MA.
  • A minimum of 5+ years working with students (of any age).
  • Classroom management skills
  • Highly skilled with developing choreography for class performances and/or elite dance competitions
  • Extensive professional work and/or teaching in the performing arts
  • Bachelor's degree in related performing arts fields, Master's degree in arts or education greatly preferred
  • Reliable transportation (THTC is located half a mile from Union Station- the Worcester Commuter Rail stop and/or we provide validated parking)

The employee is frequently required to walk or stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear (required for performance, teaching, listening to music, choreography, etc.).

Schedule: Tuesdays from 4-8:15 PM.
