Cabinetmaker
Job Summary
Cuts, shapes, and assembles cabinets.
General Accountabilities
Produces or assembles components of cabinets.
Verifies dimensions and checks the quality or fit of pieces to ensure specifications are met.
Sets up or operates machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, or shapers to cut, mold, or shape Woodstock or wood substitutes.
Measures and marks dimensions of parts prior to cutting to ensure a tight fit and quality product.
Reinforces joints with nails or other fasteners to prepare cabinets for finishing.
Attaches parts to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps.
Establishes the specifications of cabinets to be constructed or repaired.
Uses blueprints to shape or assemble parts.
Cuts timber to the right size and shape and trims parts of joints to ensure a snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
Matches materials for color, grain, or texture.
Trims, sands, or scrapes surfaces or joints to prepare cabinets for finishing.

Job Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: At least 2 years of related experience
