POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Director position is a specific opportunity to engage your talents to solve problems for the architectural, engineering, and construction communities by offering creative masonry solutions. Architects don’t always see their visions fully realized. Often, they are changed by decision-makers unrelated to the project creation in ways that compromise the value, performance, and design intent of the building and the surrounding community. As a building envelope consultant with Interstate Brick, you will offer customizable wall assembly solutions that allow architects and engineers to achieve their design intent so that materials are not later substituted. At Interstate Brick, our team of systems specialists understand design details and construction methods. We offer more sizes, more shapes, and more possibilities to ensure their creations come to life. When creative visions are realized, buildings enhance community experiences for generations.

The many inventive facets of our offerings include thin brick, and structural, reinforceable brick for load bearing, panelization, and curtain wall systems, among others. This service is often long-standing. It is not unusual for our team members and customers to reach tenure of 30-45 years. Working in concert with our senior Technical Director, the professional we select will impact Interstate Brick’s presence, performance, and growth in the territory.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO….

 You will continuously learn more about clay brick, manufacturing, and building systems.

 You will educate and support sales staff and distributors through technical seminars to architects, engineers, and others across North America.

 You will stay on top of industry trends to share with our team through involvement with national associations and industry societies. Page 2 of 2 Updated 4/17/23

 You will offer creative solutions to challenges that arise in projects through design assistance to other engineers and architects.

 You will represent us at applicable industry meetings.

 You will collaborate on strategies and tactics to continuously improve performance and product offerings.

 You will author articles and develop technical documents as needed to assist sales efforts.

 

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS YOU NEED

The collaborative team-builder we need will strive for an environment in which technical knowledge, marketing, and service drives relationships and sales. This person will also adopt and exhibit the company’s core values.

Other requirements include:

 Ten years of design experience in structural engineering.

 Understanding of building systems and engineering concepts related to structural masonry.

 Engaging verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with the sales team, contractors, engineers, architects, and owners.

 Aptitude for problem-solving and negotiating.

 Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a drawing program (i.e., SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, etc.).
