Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. /Johnny B Transport is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the Inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions. With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona. IAS supplies and transports a diverse product line of asphalts, polymer-modified asphalt, and asphalt emulsions to the road maintenance and construction industry. Idaho Asphalt Supply is looking for an energized and flexible self-starter to fill a full-time opening for a Spreader Driver in our Idaho-based and potentially other facilities.

Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Fleet Logistic Manager, this position is responsible for the application of asphalt emulsions on highways and private roadways. This is a highly skilled position involving the operation of a paving machine for various asphalt emulsions.

• Drive and operate asphalt distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces.
• Connect the hose from storage tank to truck tank and move lever to fill pressure tank with asphalt liquid.
• Regulate burner to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump as needed.
• Knowledge of Bearcat CRC -computer rate control system.
• Turn valve to regulate flow of material at specified rate and adjust levers to adjust height of spray bar from road surface.
• Monitor flow gages, tachometer, and temperature gauge to ensure uniform distribution
  Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation.
• Must be able to shoot tack, prime, and seal daily, as needed.
• Responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment; and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• May perform other related duties as instructed.
• Timely and regular attendance is essential to the asphalt distributor position.

Position Requirements:

To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have:

• One year or more experience operating a distributor truck. With an emphasis on asphalt, and chip seal.
• Must have an understanding and ability to spray various asphalt emulsions on road surfaces.
• Must possess a Class A CDL - Hazmat and Tanker endorsement.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to push/pull/lift/carry 25-30 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to stand/walk/balance/stoop/kneel/crouch/reach overhead on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to sit and do repetitive hand motion continuously.
• Ability to get in and out of the cab 8 to 10 times a day.
• Ability and knowledge to perform walk around inspections of equipment.
• Ability to lift asphalt hoses.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay

• .15 cents a mile performance bonus (4.50-5.00 bonus score) must be employed for 1 year.
• .08 cents a mile performance bonus (3.00-4.49 bonus score) must be employed for 1 year.
• Senior Spreader operator will receive $37.00 per hour. The Senior Operator must meet all of the required goals set in the Operators Job description.
• Phase 3 Spreader Operator will receive $34.00 per hour. The Phase 3 Operator must meet all of the required goals set in the Operators Job description.
• Phase 2 Spreader Operator will receive $30.00 per hour. The Phase 2 Operator must meet all of the required goals set in the Operators Job description.
• Spreader driver Trainee will receive $28.00 per hour. Trainee pay will increase as goals and mandatory training is completed.
• Trainer pay will be $50.00 per day in addition to regular pay.
• All pay scales can be reached by completing each operational standard and goals set forth by the Company.
• Spreader drivers will be paid for 30 minute prep and 30 minute clean up at spreader pay schedule level.
• Unit 957 operator will be paid portal to portal. All other units will be paid the company mileage pay.
