Summary

The CNC Mold Maker is responsible for safely and efficiently performing varying levels of preventative maintenance and mold repairs on injection molds. This role is critical in supporting production by ensuring the highest possible reliability and uptime.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety rules/regulations and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Clean and repair hot runner systems as needed including wiring heaters and thermocouples, and plumbing air and water.
  • Perform weekly and monthly Preventive Maintenance procedures to ensure that all molds are maintained to company standards and that all tooling is maintained in top operating condition.
  • Repair injection molds to ensure that all molds operate at maximum potential, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, basic tool and die and repair / rebuild of hot runner systems.
  • Disassemble, maintain, reassemble and clean molding tools per maintenance cycle.
  • Ability to use tools for hand work and polishing of molding surfaces as needed.
  • Use overhead cranes to dismantle, flip and transport molds
  • Troubleshoot issues, both in and out of the press, and determine root cause. This may require collaboration with other departments if the issue is not clearly a mold issue.
  • Setup of standard mills and lathes to machine mold components.
  • Assist with CNC machining as needed
  • Assist with machining and building of automation assembly equipment as needed.
  • Perform work by following all safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas
  • Reliable attendance
  • Ensure to abide by safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned in Management’s sole discretion

 

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • 5+ years of experience in injection mold maintenance and hot runner repair
  • General knowledge of Injection Molding and manufacturing operations preferred. Basic mold tooling and assembly knowledge preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, trade school classwork or degree preferred.
  • Proficient in repairs of hot runner systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to define problems and resolve quickly.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in the use of lathe, mill, cranes and rigging.
  • Overhead crane experience
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic functions High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to communicate to others, as well as be able to receive communication from others
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures pertaining to the general operator
  • Must have or obtain forklift certification

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work overtime when required by management
  • Must have flexible working schedule to support molding operations
  • Repetitive bending/reaching
  • Standing for sustained periods to time
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
