Job Description:

Your role goes beyond technical expertise – you'll also provide compassionate care, ensuring patients feel comfortable and safe during procedures. Ultrasound Technologist Responsibilities:

  • Perform ultrasound procedures to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed.
  • Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and make necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret images and provide accurate diagnostic information.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition and performing routine maintenance as needed.
  • Keep accurate patient records and documentation of procedures performed.
  • Stay updated on advances in the field of ultrasound technology and participate in continuing education to maintain certification.
  • Ultrasound Technologist Required Skills:
  • Strong technical skills in operating ultrasound equipment and obtaining high-quality images.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to adapt to different patient needs and situations, including working with pediatric, geriatric, and critically ill patients.
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze images for diagnostic quality.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to accurately interpret ultrasound images.
  • Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in critical situations.

 
Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
  • Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
  • State licensure, if required in the state of practice.
  • Basic life support certification.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting may be preferred.
  • Continuing education in the field to maintain certification and stay updated on advancements in ultrasound technology.


Requirements:

  • On-call requirements? Call rotates between staff and is only Friday/Saturday/Sunday. The others are covered by the midnight tech. Usually 2-3 days per month.
  • Hours Per Shift (ex: 8, 10, or 12): 12
  • Shift Start Time: Week 1: Thursday, Friday 0700-1930 Sunday 900-2130 Week 2: Monday0600-1830 Tuesday, Wednesday 0700-1930 This model allows for full time hours and gives one week off every other week.
  • Department Specific Details (ex. nurse/patient ratio, float or weekend requirements, charting, equipment, special qualifications, or certs.): Epic documentation. We have OB at this facility. Requires vascular certification.
