Job DescriptionJob Description

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design process to support engineers, designers, and assemblers by contributing ideas & technical information as needed
  • Create rough sketches or diagrams of electrical systems on the fly
  • Collect, study and combine rough sketches, initial design ideas, and technical documentations into coherent technical drafts
  • Create accurate, detailed technical plans for electrical systems using computer-aided design programs to convert specifications, technical data, and design information from engineers into electrical drawing packages
    • Drawing packages include detailed documentation of:
      • System layouts, One-line diagrams, electrical schematics, panel layouts, equipment bill of materials, cable layouts, component lists, tag lists, tag details, build and assembly drawings details
  • Serve a lead Drafter on assigned projects
    • Creating and maintaining a standard database of circuits, electrical component symbols, bill of materials in drawings software using past drawings for future re-use
    • Adhere drawing templates and layouts to department standards
      • Modify standards as needed to meet customer specifications
  • Provide shop support as needed to help technicians in executing the assembly of equipment as it pertains to electrical drawings
  • Assist technicians and engineers with wiring verification and IO checkout
  • Travel within a 2-hour radius from PowerBuilt facilities

Requirements:

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills in a formal, and informal group environment
  • Ability to take notes and organize thoughts for dissemination to internal and external project team members
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as component manuals, and equipment specification sheets for technical data, such as dimensions and wiring/ connection details
  • Understanding of electrical circuitry and panel design
    • Wire sizing, wire duct sizing, component spacing and layout criteria in panels
  • Certification in an Electrical drafting software such as: AutoCad, SolidWorks, Eplan (not required)
