Our Technical Design team is looking for a full-time Lead Technical Designer to work in person at our Miami Gardens, FL location 3-4 days per week and the rest of the time will be remote.

Lead Technical Designer

Skills Required:

  • 5+ years of Technical Design experience in the apparel industry
  • Working knowledge of the following programs:
    • PLM software
    • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge & Acrobat Pro
    • Google & Microsoft Applications (Gmail & Outlook)
    • Zoom & Teams
  • Extensive knowledge of garment design and manufacturing processes:
    • points of measure and grade rules
    • fabrics and fabric performance (knits & wovens)
    • sewing trims
    • construction (machines and stitch types)
    • embellishments (embroidery, screen-printing, etc.)
    • lab dips and strike-offs
    • care instructions
    • fit sessions and mannequin standards
  • Experience with Import factories a must
  • Familiarity with Vendor Compliance a plus
  • Working knowledge of Pantones
  • Retail Merchandising and Sales experience with understanding of store requirements a plus
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Exceptional ability to manage deadlines and changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks accurately and in a timely matter
  • Team leadership experience a plus

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Development, Fashion Design, or similar

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Import Apparel Production and Development Manager
  • Take the team lead role overseeing all sampling and tech packs to ensure quality, consistency, and timing
  • Process tech packs for Import Custom Cut & Sew apparel orders
    • Review new designs/styles with department manager to determine tech requirements
  • Monitor and review sampling and development (including fit samples, lab dips, strike-offs, and full PP’s)
    • Communicate and maintain Time and Actions dates regarding sampling and submits
    • Prepare and track shipping of physical samples to customers with clear and accurate callouts
    • Maintain sample evaluations in our proprietary PLM system and relay feedback to factories
  • Create technical sketches, specs, construction details, and costing tech packs for new bodies
  • Maintain a body style library and establish a sales body catalog
  • Maintaining all libraries and reference materials for department
  • Other tasks as assigned by department manager

Schedule:

  • Hybrid work schedule (Miami, FL), 3-4 days in office
  • Hourly, overtime rare but as needed
