Job Summary:

The Sit-Down Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating a sit-down forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform other warehouse duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forklift Operation:

    • Safely operate a sit-down forklift to move goods and materials within the warehouse or production area.
    • Load and unload products from trucks or storage areas, ensuring the safe and accurate handling of goods.
    • Transport materials to designated areas as per production or shipping requirements.

  • Inventory Management:

    • Stack and organize pallets and materials in a manner that is safe and efficient, ensuring that items are easily accessible.
    • Assist with inventory counts and checks as needed, ensuring that stock is accurately recorded and tracked.
    • Identify and report any discrepancies or damaged items during the material handling process.

  • Safety & Maintenance:

    • Conduct routine inspections of the forklift before and after each use, checking for mechanical issues or safety concerns.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following warehouse safety guidelines.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

  • Warehouse Support:

    • Assist with general warehouse duties such as picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment when not operating the forklift.
    • Help maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient warehouse operations.

  • Documentation:

    • Complete and maintain accurate records of materials moved, storage locations, and any issues encountered during the shift.
    • Ensure all paperwork, such as load tickets or manifests, is properly filled out and submitted.
