Qualifications

  • The Fabrication Manager must be flexible and a self-starter, able to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented
  • Must be comfortable utilizing computers (Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
  • Must have a good understanding of production planning and project scheduling
  • Must be comfortable speaking with vendors in person and over the phone
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, machines required. Knowledge of metal pipe parts, fittings, sizing a plus.
  • Prior experience running a warehouse or fabrication shop required. Prior metal/steel pipe fabrication a plus. 
  • Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus
  • High School diploma or GED required. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Prior supervision experience required.
  • Prior Metal Welding a plus.

Responsibilities

  • The Fabrication Manager provides leadership and direction to the fabrication team in order to achieve high quality products on time and under budget, while coordinating and communicating with multiple departments working on multiple projects concurrently
  • Organize and manage the daily/weekly production schedule
  • Responsible for purchasing, ordering, and maintaining inventory and job account items
  • The Fabrication Manager creates and manages work flow processes and controls to ensure production is maximized at its lowest cost while being delivered within required project timelines
  • Responsible for insuring that all shop employees follow documented instructions given on the shop orders in order to control product quality throughout the fabrication process
  • Enforce safety rules through ongoing communication and Toolbox meetings, including equipment and tools are secure and used correctly
  • Ensure housekeeping is ongoing and maintain a clean, organized and safe workplace
  • Review and approve job costed timesheets timely each week
  • Provide guidance and leadership to all employees to ensure effective and efficient flow of work, and ensure all employees recognize their fundamental role in the production process
  • Provide training and education to staff on equipment, systems and protocols to improve production rates
  • Facilitate employee hiring, training and development
