Position Summary
The Flooring Technician supports our operations and sales departments by performing quality measurements and inspections during the sales and installation process, from start to finish.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect flooring installation against company standards
  • Reports both acceptable and unacceptable results, and follows up on incidents to confirm resolution in a timely manner
  • Remedies minor defects by repairing immediately onsite to avoid customer impact
  • Efficiently generates accurate measures with minimal waste and without errors
  • Professional communication with installers, sales, and office staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Branch Manager


Job Qualifications

  • 2+ Years of flooring experience and understanding of installation REQUIRED
  • Problem solving skills, solid basic math skills needed to accurately calculate quantities
  • Tech savvy with experience in Microsoft products
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable

Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Carpet Installer to join our team. As a key member of our installation crew, you will be responsible for installing various types of carpet, including broadloom, carpet tiles, and custom rugs, with precision and expertise. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail will play a critical role in achieving beautiful, durable, and long-lasting carpet installations for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan the layout and installation of carpet in residential and commercial spaces
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and padding as needed to ensure a smooth and stable substrate for carpet installation
  • Measure and cut carpet materials accurately to fit rooms, hallways, stairs, and other areas, using carpet knives and cutting tools
  • Install carpet using appropriate techniques, such as stretch-in, glue-down, or double-glue installation, ensuring proper alignment and pattern matching
  • Seam carpet edges and transitions, as well as install tack strips, thresholds, and baseboards, to achieve a finished and professional look
  • Stretch and secure carpet using power stretchers, knee kickers, and other tools to eliminate wrinkles and ensure a tight, smooth installation
  • Trim and finish carpet edges and seams with binding or serging, as needed, to prevent fraying and unraveling
  • Clean up work areas and remove debris at the end of each installation job, leaving the site clean and organized
  • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and team members to coordinate schedules and address any issues or concerns

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a carpet installer, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in using carpet installation tools and equipment, including power stretchers, knee kickers, seam irons, and cutting tools
  • Knowledge of carpet materials, styles, patterns, and installation methods, as well as industry standards and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and installation instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring, cutting, and installing carpet
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to lift and maneuver heavy carpet rolls and equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise
