JOB SUMMARY
The Estimator is responsible for preparing and estimating budget costs for construction for the Residential Division by studying plans and specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Estimate and purchase all residential portfolio products
- Estimate time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to calculate overall cost for each project
- Coordinate the subcontractor bid process
- Assist Sales with PCA & sales pricing
- Issue purchase orders, generate rebates, and process invoices
- Produce COR pricing alongside Selections for all products & process approved change orders
- Maintain clean budgets for ease of job reconciliation
- Purchase materials and labor competitively
- Compile and maintain unit price database
- Facilitate new product and trade base developments
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture or related preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ field experience in residential construction industry
- Construction management or new home construction estimating experience preferred
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with project team and stakeholder
- Excellent oral and written communication skills· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel), Bluebeam, and Builder Trend
- Strong analytical, organization and time management skills
- Effective conflict resolution and interpersonal skill
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work environment described here represents what the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee regularly works in a well-lighted, temperature controlled, and smoke-free environment. The noise level is moderate and there is minimal risk of exposure to harmful substances. This job is performed with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
