Lab Technician - Product Development

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our innovative food product development team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about creating unique vegan dairy alternatives, such as cream cheese and yogurt. As a Lab Technician, you will play a critical support role, working closely with experienced scientists to bring these products from concept to commercialization. This is an excellent opportunity for entry-level candidates or those early in their career to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and unique laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, label, and safely store ingredients and samples for testing.
  • Perform benchtop and pilot scale experiments, analyze results, and report findings.
  • Understand and operate all equipment and processes used in sample production.
  • Address and discuss any questions regarding experimental results.
  • Organize and store samples to ensure safety and integrity.
  • Manage lab and equipment sanitization and maintenance, including recalibration of equipment.
  • Maintain equipment records and daily work logs.
  • Prepare, pack, and ship samples as needed.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience (entry-level preferred).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for Food Science or Chemistry.
  • Experience working in a product development lab or pilot plant lab (academic or professional).
  • Basic lab management skills, including cleaning, recording, and analyzing data.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as spectrometers, alcohol analyzers, refractometers, titrators, moisture analyzers, homogenizers, and deep freezers.
  • Experience calibrating lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of the food/CPG industry and cultured dairy products.
  • Startup experience or a strong willingness to work in a startup environment.
