Must have 5 or more years experience in all aspects of construction, with an emphasis on deck construction. As well as managing multiple employees and sub-contractors. Applicants should have an understanding of cost control, safety, building codes and blueprint reading. Basic math skills, ability to think analytically, and problem solve are also required.
Job responsibilities include:
- All aspects of deck and/or other project construction, including but not limited to; moving staging material, digging footings, excavation, general carpentry, material take-offs, site cleanliness, material pick-ups, tool maintenance, loading and unloading tools and materials.
- Quality control.
- Customer relations.
- Purchasing materials and/or small tools.
- Supervising field crew.
- Attend weekly production meetings.
- Form carpenters build molds for concrete to harden into forms for foundations, beams, staircases, and bridges. They can use wood or metal frames.
- Measuring and cutting: Form carpenters measure and cut wood or metal to shape the molds.
- Positioning molds: Form carpenters position the molds so that the concrete can dry after pouring.
- Using tools: Form carpenters use hand and power tools to get the work done.
- Working with drawings: Form carpenters consult drawings, blueprints, or sketches to prepare project layout and determine dimensions, shape, design, and materials required.
- Working with a team: Form carpenters work closely with their team to pour concrete into molds.
- Checking for accuracy: Form carpenters check their work for accuracy.
- Dismantling: Form carpenters dismantle casts without damaging them, so that they can be used again.
- Following safety rules: Form carpenters follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
