CNC Horizontal Mill Operator

The CNC Horizontal Mill Operator completes set-ups and operates CNC machines for the efficient production of quality components. This position is responsible for the production of high-tolerance precision parts within the horizontal mill department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC Horizontal Machining Centers
• Select and set up tools and ensure proper function as intended
• Responsible for sample part and first article buy-offs
• Replace worn or damaged cutting tools/inserts as needed
• Verify, edit, and load CNC programs
• Collaborate with Engineering to develop and maintain accurate Work Instructions
• Collaborate with QC to maintain and ensure quality standards throughout the department
• Collaborate with Maintenance to maintain functional equipment while demonstrating the ability to follow Safety Standards
• Troubleshoot and fix production issues
• Suggest and assist in the implementation of process improvement ideas
• Demonstrate ability to follow Safety rules
• Assist Plant Manager & Production Supervisor in developing and maintaining the Horizontal Mill production schedule
• Read blueprints and inspect parts with specified measuring devices
• Complete job order documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards
• Conduct yourself in a professional manner
• Responsible for Horizontal Mill Department cleanliness
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Skills Required:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machine set-up, programming, and operations.
• Extensive experience with Fanuc controls
• Ability to edit and write G-code programs
• Broad understanding of cutting tools for milling, drilling, tapping, boring, etc.
• Safety First mindset
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations

• Shows a consistent positive attitude
• The ability to read and write English

• GED or High School diploma preferred but not required
