Phoenix Fire Systems, Inc. is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as an entry or mid-level fire alarm & suppression technician. The successful candidate will have 3 years' fire alarm experience, possess or be working toward NICET certification and be able to perform basic service technician responsibilities independently. The preferred candidate will be highly self-motivated, able to problem solve and troubleshoot complex issues with limited guidance in the field. The ideal candidate exhibits strong communication skills, is ready to learn, able to ask questions and follow-up on open tasks independently and with guidance of senior technicians and supervisors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Service, maintain and inspect fire alarm and special hazards systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical components of fire alarm and special hazards fire suppression and detection systems.
  • Perform annual and semi-annual inspections and tests, carry out maintenance as required.
  • Prepare and submit inspection reports to customers and AHJ's.
  • Recondition and recharge pressurized clean agent and special hazards cylinders and tanks.
  • Execute fire alarm, fire suppression, explosion protection and related service, inspection and maintenance independently.
  • Provide Leads for service or new construction where possible.
  • Provide complete, detailed inspection reports, notes and follow-up paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Provide detailed information for clients and AHJ using various reporting tools and inspection, service apps.
  • Proactively communicate to plan work efficiently with input from senior technicians and supervisors.
  • Install and commission fire alarm and special hazards systems.
  • Mounting and wiring devices and components according to approved drawings.
  • Finalizing systems, start up and walkthroughs with local code enforcers.
  • Produce required documentation, code-required forms and test reports in a timely manner, daily
  • Take part in installation/construction projects in industrial, energy, telecom and IT, commercial, educational, healthcare and related critical facilities as required.
  • Positively represent the company in all client, architect/engineer and subcontractor interactions.
  • Understand and follow applicable codes, standards, and unique project specifications, Owner requirements.
  • Convey a sense of professionalism, fairness, and concern for customers, labor and management.
  • Coordinate change orders and drive toward overall margin improvement on every job.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years' Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, Fire Suppression, Electrical Construction, Instrumentation/controls, Alarm/Security, or related technician, troubleshooting and service-oriented work.
  • Alternatively - 1+ years' fire alarm experience, and combination of additional electro-mechanical experience and/or education.
  • Associates or higher degree in a technical field, will accept equivalent experience and applicable training.
  • Project management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand complex building architectural, mechanical and electrical documents.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize among assignments with a strong adherence to deadlines.
  • Possess a working knowledge / proficiency in MS Excel. Be able to create tracking spreadsheets, utilize MS office.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and IEC standards, Underwriter’s requirements and applicable building codes preferred.
  • NICET Level I or higher in Fire Alarm and/or Special Hazards Fire Suppression preferred.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Able to work independently and also in a group/training environment

Requirements:

  • Possess High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to pass background check and drug screen.
  • Available for scheduled overtime work, periodic on-call times if required (rotating on-call schedule) and weekend work if required
  • Use of hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet;
  • Regular bending, reaching, climbing ladders and walking, carry and move equipment, tools, materials across sites and up flights of stairs, work in subfloors, above ceilings
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.

Job Type: Full-time, in person

Salary: $23.00 – $35.00 dependent on experience, education, skill level
