This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary. The job centers around developing new ideas, systems and technology, and analyzing and improving on old ones. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to spot and correct errors is important. Work must be done right and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work from co-workers and subordinates.

Interest and energy focuses primarily on the work at hand, with negligible inclination for small talk or social involvement. The broad scope of the job demands a factual, direct and authoritative style of communication. Decision-making, though swift, is very calculated.

The major responsibilities and results of the landscape construction team leader will be as follows.

· Lead and implement the crew in a fast-paced environment of multiple projects in the construction of outdoor living areas, landscaping and drainage installations.

· Work closely with the customers on the meticulous execution of the job and the timing of work to include handling and delivery of jobsites. Plus, detailed recording of receipts and man-hours tracked through company software.

· Ability to layout the job according to design and installation to industry and company standards. High standard, high quality work is of utmost importance.

  • Handle crew members on the job site and train & mentor both experienced and inexperienced team members on installation practices and life & career progression. Structured, organized and efficient work expected of self and others.
  • Ability to think ahead and solve problems as they arise in an analytical and technical orientation with minor input from others.
  • Self- Motivated to continual education and mastery of landscape construction, leadership. Seeks out classes and training programs to become better.
  • Innovative and always thinking of new ways to do a task that makes it easier, safer, and efficient for self, company, and team.

· Conduct pre and post job walkthroughs with project manager and customers so that a detailed plan is implemented for the installation and to ensure all details of the project are complete.

· Provides a sounding board for the business owner with well thought out, analyzed, big picture strategic decisions. Prefers to communicate in blunt, to-the-point, and candid styles.

  • Ability to communicate answers to questions that customers may have about the project in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Upsell/Sell work and provide sales support at trade shows. Sales training is to be done throughout the year.

Depending on experience this position can be hourly or Salary (Fluctuating Work Week). Based on $25-$32/hr. Other Benefits include Paid Vacation, 401k, Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, and more. Hours range throughout the year with during the season (March-December) doing upwards of 50 hours a week and offseason (January- February) upwards of 30 hours a week.

Three years minimum of landscape construction foreman experience is required. This person would have extensive knowledge in the running of a construction business.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
