MILIEU COUNSELOR II- KITCHEN PROGRAM

Wellspring is seeking an experienced and passionate Milieu Counselor II to join our team as a Kitchen program coordinator

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating the kitchen program and providing a healing milieu experience in our Adolescent Residential Program.

 

Functions of the position:

  1. Prepping and cooking for large groups in a non institutional setting.
  2. Teaching and educating Adolescents on healthy food choices, meal planning, cooking techniques and kitchen safety.
  3. Adhering to local food safety and sanitation guidelines. Including proper storage, handling and cleaning procedures.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen program.
  • Developing and implementing a structured schedule for meal planning, preparation and serving, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and nutritional guidelines.
  • Experience in cooking for large groups, particularly in non-institutional settings.
  • Collaborating with the clinical team and Nutritionist to incorporate therapeutic and educational components into the kitchen program, promoting skill development, healthy lifestyle choices and dining experiences.
  • Willing and able to teach culinary skills to residents and staff with kindness and care.
  • Ability to maintain already established good working relationships with food vendors, health department reviewers, and others.


Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Psychology, Nutrition, culinary arts or related field is preferred. Will accept two-year degree with experience working in a therapeutic field/ or culinary program.
  • Previous experience working in a residential treatment facility or similar setting highly preferred.
  • Kitchen experience/skills and interest in applying them in the milieu setting, keeping with our therapeutic milieu model.
  • Experience in training and/or supervising others is a plus.
  • Serve Safe Certification or willingness to complete the certification process.
