Summary:
The X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Imaging:
- Perform x-ray examinations on patients to produce radiographs for diagnostic purposes.

- Operate and maintain radiographic equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for x-ray procedures, explaining the process and answering any questions.
- Ensure patients are positioned correctly and comfortably on the examination table.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their well-being and safety.
Image Quality and Processing:
- Adjust x-ray equipment settings to capture clear and accurate images.
- Evaluate radiographs for quality and ensure they meet diagnostic requirements.
- Use computerized systems to process and store images.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following infection control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and other governing bodies.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures performed.
- Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- State licensure as required by law.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience:
- Previous experience as an X-Ray Technician preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with digital imaging systems and electronic health records (EHR) is a plus.
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating radiographic equipment and producing high-quality images.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, radiographic positioning, and imaging techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
