Extrusion Operator

DRIVE is currently seeking experienced Extrusion Operators to fill multiple openings with a local manufacturing company in Manchester, Michigan.

Job Summary: To operate all equipment as per work instructions safely and responsibly. 3rd shift available (10:00 PM-6:00 AM)

Required Education and Experience: 

• Prefer minimum high school diploma or GED
• One-year experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably in Automotive
• Knowledge of quality standards

Essential Functions: 

• Abide by all company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and more
• Responsible for but not limited to manufacturing parts and product by operating extruder machines, as well as providing training and support to employees performing various extrusion activities
• Manufactures parts or product by operating extrusion machines and equipment, using hand tools and fixtures, and assembling components as required
• Tests and visually inspects completed or in-process work, notifies supervisor or other personnel of manufacturing or quality problems, and documents quality conformance and production volumes during shift or run
• Prepares finished parts or product for shipment or routing to next processing stage, or notifies appropriate personnel that product is ready for packaging or shipment
• Rotates between different work stations or job assignments
• Maintains accurate and complete daily paperwork
• Completes quality checks as defined by job instructions
• Trains new operators
• Troubleshoots complex machines or process problems with producing extruded parts
• Performs test runs of extruded products using new materials to define possible uses, and brainstorm ideas for possible new uses and processes involving new materials
• Confers with appropriate personnel regarding the development of production processes, tooling and materials
• Performs general maintenance of extruders, pullers, water pumps and vacuum tanks
