Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Overview: A prominent manufacturing company specialized in supporting the Automotive Industry near the Sterling Heights, MI area is in search of a Maintenance Technician to bring on to their growing team You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery, equipment, and systems used in production and manufacturing processes. Your primary goal will be to minimize downtime, optimize efficiency, and ensure the safe operation of all equipment to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections, lubrication, and preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment, conveyors, robotic systems, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery, and other production-related systems according to established maintenance schedules.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes of mechanical and electrical issues, and implement corrective actions to restore functionality promptly. This may involve using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.
Repair and Replacement: Conduct repairs, adjustments, and component replacements on malfunctioning equipment, including motors, bearings, belts, gears, sensors, actuators, and control panels. Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Emergency Response: Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests promptly to minimize production downtime. Act decisively to resolve critical issues and implement temporary solutions if necessary to keep operations running smoothly.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, performance, and efficiency. Propose and implement modifications, upgrades, and process enhancements to optimize machinery and reduce maintenance requirements.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, equipment histories, and spare parts inventory. Provide regular updates on equipment status, maintenance trends, and performance metrics to supervisors and management.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations while performing maintenance tasks. Identify and address potential safety hazards associated with equipment operation, and take proactive measures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician in an automotive manufacturing or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems commonly used in automotive production facilities.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools, precision instruments, and diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order management and asset tracking.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, heat, cold, and chemicals.
