Job DescriptionJob Description

Summary:           Responsible for the daily management and supervision of the aggregate plant production including personnel management, pit mining and crushing, mobile and plant equipment maintenance and repair, inventory management, and data reporting as necessary.  Help prepare operational and capital budgets and monitor production, inventories, and costs.  Analyze operational efficiencies and recommend improvements.  Ensure the operations are run in a safe manner, in compliance with environmental requirements and in the most efficient and effective way.  Perform daily inspections of the plant equipment, mobile equipment, and plant site to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.  Engage with plant personnel to ensure proper training procedures and job expectations are in place.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform oversight of daily aggregate processing, and maintenance and repair activities.  Will set-up and supervise daily crew activity in all the above operations.
  • Will assist in the preparation and management of operational and capital budgets, as well as updating forecasts.  Prepares periodic reports and presentations on the status of operations.
  • Responsible for daily production reporting and inventory management.
  • Maintain working relationships with all departments to ensure work objectives can be met.
  • Develop plans to work towards improved performance and lower operating costs.
  • Help assure that products meet specifications and high standards of quality.
  • Analyze equipment use and plant processes for efficiency, power/fuel utilization and costs.  Initiate recommendations for improvements.
  • Help ensure proper equipment maintenance.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and help provide oversight of safe work practices, provide a safe work environment and safety training.  Actively engage with the employees to reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Assure high environmental standards and compliance with applicable permits and regulations.
  • Help ensure a high level of customer service and client satisfaction.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in all aspects of crushing, screening, washing, and stockpiling to produce high quality construction aggregates.
  • Good analytical, communication, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Familiar with systematic engineering thought process and problem solving.
  • Basic computer skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations regarding mining operations including MSHA, OSHA, CalOSHA, and SMARA.
