Position Summary:
This the intermediate level Grounds Maintenance position. Grounds maintenance Tech 2 is expected to have a working knowledge of general landscape maintenance, rough plumbing/sewer, and irrigation repairs. It is expected that general assignments for this position can be completed without constant supervision.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Systematically inspects for and recognizes the basic signs of plant stress on a daily basis under supervision.
2. Properly plants flowers, shrubs, and groundcover as directed and under limited supervision.
3. Properly plants, stakes, and ties tress as directed and under limited supervision.
4. Waters and maintains all plantings so they are healthy and attractive.
5. Prunes shrubs and trees to achieve an attractive shape as directed by Foreman.
6. Removes dead or damaged growth.
7. Mows lawns and trims edges so they are attractive.
8. Inspects, cleans and adjusts sprinklers and irrigation systems as needed.
9. Efficiently uses hand tools including shovels, rakes, hoes, pruners, and shears.
10. Efficiently operates carts, sweepers, pressure washers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and lawn mowers.
11. Uses ladders competently and safely.
12. Keeps Supervisor advised of current work location. Advises foreman of needed supplies and repairs to equipment.
13. Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service request Work Orders as assigned.
14. Diagnoses and repairs small hand tool and gardening equipment system problems under supervision.
15. Maintains clean and sanitary work environment, leaves work area clean.
16. Schedules and ensures activities set forth above are performed efficiently by self and others. Assists as necessary.
17. Responsible for the care, maintenance and assisting in the inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by the company for use in grounds maintenance.
18. Reporting unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property, residents or tenants.
19. Cleans work area, tools and equipment.
20. Provides courteous, efficient response at all times.
21. Continually be aware of and operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and company safety policies at all times.
