Utility Plumber

Prestige Plumbing and Heating is seeking an experienced Utility Plumber to lead and supervise a small crew of semi-skilled helpers in the performance of various maintenance activities or installations of sewer and water lines.
Candidate must have 5 years of verifiable utility plumbing experience on the installation of water, sewer and storm drainage services in metropolitan NYC area. Must be proficient and have extended knowledge of heavy equipment operations.
Essential Functions include:
Ø Laying out work, ordering material and maintaining documentation of work hours and materials expended.
Ø Supervising and assisting in the excavation and backfilling of trenches, disinfecting and flushing of mains.
Ø Installing, repairing, replacing or relocating utility service lines using cast iron, copper, ductile iron or other suitable piping materials
Ø Drilling and tapping water mains and sewers; locating and repairing underground and surface leaks on pipes.
Ø Installing and/or making repairs to gate valves,
Ø Installing and/or rebuilding fire hydrants; installing hydrant leads.
Ø Installing, changing, removing and making field repairs to water meters.
Ø Setting or removing meters and meter boxes; conducting flow and pressure tests.
Ø Installation or repairing of gates valves, repacking glands.
Ø Installation and testing of backflow prevention devices.
Communication skills which allow for effective dialogue with Customers and other Contractors, including explaining problems and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
Read and interpret blueprints and drawings and ensure that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes. Ability to work extended hours, nights or weekends when job conditions require the same.
Advise Management immediate of any job conditions encountered that are outside the agreed upon scope of work of proposal; and require an Extra work authorization from Customer.
Follow company safety policies and procedures as well as City, State or Federal Rules and regulations.
Exempt Position:
Salary Range: $ 75 K to $100 K
