Founded in 2015, Hard Truth Distilling Co. produces and releases a variety of premium spirits to market while filling our rackhouse with Indiana rye whiskey and bourbon. Now Indiana's largest destination distillery, Hard Truth lives on a 325-acre wooded campus in Brown County - an artists' colony and tourist destination known for its natural beauty.

Hard Truth Distilling Co. is looking to hire a Distiller for a second shift (2 p.m. to 10 p.m.) operating Tuesday through Saturday.


Distiller Responsibilities

  • Unloading, testing and monitoring grain deliveries

  • Operate grain handling equipment including conveyors and mill

  • Clean milling room

  • Mash cooking and transferring mash between fermentation vessels.

  • Monitor mash through the fermentation process.

  • Safely operating Vendome continuous column through an 8 hour distillation run.

  • Staging, filling, labeling and moving whisky barrels through the barreling process.

  • Monitor the distillation process utilizing metering equipment to ensure proper ranges are adhered to.

  • Perform lab procedures such as ABV%, proof or taste.

  • Operate gauging tanks, filling/dumping barrels with a high attention to detail.

  • Assist in unloading new barrel deliveries

  • Track, inventory, and log all phases of production.

  • Collaborate with distillery leadership to meet current and future production goals.

  • Execute preventative maintenance and upkeep of distilling equipment.

  • Follow all SOPs and ensure safe distilling operations.

  • Follow all safety programs

  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness in the production facility.

  • Assist with bottling when requested

  • Assist with barrel transportation to and from Rickhouses

  • Shuttling finished product and other inventory from production facility to warehouse

  • Interact with customers on tours helping to provide a great experience

  • All other duties as assigned.


Distiller Minimum Work Experience/ Educational Requirements

  • 1 year of distillation experience preferred.

  • 1 year experience operating a fork truck preferred

  • 1 year experience with consumable liquid experience preferred

  • Basic computer skills including email and general data entry

  • Experience with Distillx5 preferred.



Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to a situation.

  • Ability to work in hot and humid conditions

  • Ability to work outdoors

  • Weekend availability is a must.

  • Be able to work in a standing or seated position for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to repeatedly lift 40lbs.

  • Must be able to operate or learn to safely operate a forklift.
