Job Overview

Summary of Position

As the Laundry Washer, you will sort, wash, press and clean guests and colleagues’ laundry, dry cleaning and hotel linens.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Operate equipment necessary to sort, wash, weigh, dry, iron, fold and package guest and employee laundry, dry cleaning and hotel linens.
  2. Log tag and package guest clothing
  3. Iron and fold guestroom and food and beverage flatwork
  4. Receiving, sorting and double-checking conditions of all linen and uniforms, recording all outgoing and incoming items from the laundry thoroughly.
  5. Coordinating with the seamstress to perform repairs on existing uniforms and to fit and tailor new uniforms for associates
  6. Maintaining an acceptable state of cleanliness and organization throughout the entire work area.
  7. Collect, separate, soiled uniforms and issue clean uniforms at the window.
  8. Cleaning the conveyor, uniform area and sewing machine area as required.
  9. Reporting defects in conveyor. Report any maintenance issues to the Coordinator or Supervisor. They will direct this to Engineering to take care of and will follow up once completed.
  10. To report to the Housekeeping Managers any suspicious persons or situations.
  11. To behave in a polite manner at all times. Whilst working with another colleague and see something is wrong, address it with them directly. If you are not comfortable speaking with them, please bring it up to the housekeeping or laundry managers.
  12. To assist in any way that may be necessary to ensure the efficiency and smooth running of the Laundry Department.
  13. Reporting to superior prior to any overtime accrual.
  14. Promoting a positive image of the property by displaying a pleasant and upbeat personality during each interaction and being comfortable responding to and carrying out specific needs and requests.
  15. Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all guestrooms.
  16. Performing additional duties as assigned that may be outside the normal scope of duties based on business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. One (1) year prior experience in a similar position.
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  3. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to stand and exert well – paced mobility for up to 4 hours. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like laundry rooms (+110 degrees F). Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to bend stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires grasping, writing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communication with guests, supervisors and other employees. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
