Responsibilities for Construction Superintendent

·         Monitor the work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project. Report to Owner’s Representative on progress and daily activities.

·         Ensure General Contractor is following the approved plans.

·         Ensure the quality of the work is per industry standards and meets building codes.

  • Report any deviation from approved construction plans to Owner’s Representative. Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organize meetings and cooperate with team members in various roles as necessary.
  • Ensure third part inspections are carried out in a timely manner. Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities when directed.
  • Perform inspections to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations.
  • Monitor and report on project progress. Maintain a written daily log of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site and send report to Owner’s Representative
  • Implement safety and quality guidelines. Set an example in keeping the job seat organized and clean, including meeting standards for waste disposal and environmental protection.
  • Keep track of material stock and orders
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies.

Qualifications for Construction Superintendent

  • Solid understanding of construction procedures and sequence
  • Solid knowledge of supervision of all trades and ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • 10-15 yrs. of experience in the field of site development and multi-family housing projects
  • ability to write reports and professional correspondence to Owner and Owner’s Representative, and government officials.
  • Proficient reading comprehension for technical documents, such as safety regulations, assembly and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • Keen eye to identify non-compliance with regulations or standards and ability to suggest solutions for deficiencies or problems.
  • Ability to stand for several hours at a time and to walk in varying climate conditions and on uneven ground.
