Job Title: OSP Construction Inspector

Overview: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented OSP (Outside Plant) Construction Inspector to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of fiber optic network infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of telecommunications construction standards and practices, with a focus on outside plant construction and fiber optic network deployment. This role requires strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with construction teams and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Conduct inspections of OSP construction sites to verify compliance with project specifications, design standards, and regulatory requirements.

    • Evaluate construction activities, materials, and installations to ensure adherence to industry best practices and quality standards.

    • Identify deviations from approved plans or specifications and recommend corrective actions to maintain project integrity and performance.

  2. Safety Monitoring:

    • Monitor construction sites for adherence to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), equipment operation, and workplace safety practices.

    • Identify potential safety hazards and work with construction teams to implement corrective measures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.

  3. Construction Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily inspection reports, as-built documentation, material certifications, and compliance records.

    • Document observed deficiencies, non-conformances, and corrective actions taken to address issues encountered during construction.

  4. Communication and Coordination:

    • Communicate inspection findings, project status updates, and quality concerns to project managers, construction supervisors, and other stakeholders.

    • Collaborate with construction teams to resolve issues, address concerns, and ensure that project objectives are met within established timelines and budget constraints.

  5. Field Testing and Validation:

    • Perform field testing and validation of installed fiber optic cables, conduits, splice enclosures, and related infrastructure components to verify performance and functionality.

    • Coordinate with testing and commissioning teams to conduct optical fiber testing, OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) measurements, and other required tests to validate network integrity.

  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements, construction methodologies, and quality control procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of OSP construction operations.

    • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting OSP construction practices and standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in telecommunications, construction inspection, or related field is preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience in OSP construction inspection

  • Thorough knowledge of OSP construction standards, practices, and safety regulations.

  • Familiarity with fiber optic network infrastructure components, installation techniques, and testing procedures.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve construction-related issues effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, including measurement devices, testing instruments, and documentation software.
