Position Details
Vascular Ultrasound Tech- Wenatchee WA
Location                            : Wenatchee WA
Project Duration           : 3+Months (Contract)  
Pay rate                              :  $72/hr
 
Position Summary:

• The staff Cardiac/Vascular sonographer's primary responsibilities are the performance of high quality cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations on adult and pediatric patients in inpatient and outpatient environments according to physician 's orders, utilizing complex ultrasound equipment.
• For Echocardiography confidently identify, evaluate, and document the presence or absence of cardiac pathology adhering to the standards established by the American Society of Echocardiography. Assist the cardiologist in the performance of trans esophageal echocardiograms as well as other special procedures. Perform exercise and phamalogical stress echocardiograms including valve studies.
• For Vascular Sonography confidently identify, evaluate and document the presence or absence of vascular pathology adhering to the standards established by the Society of Vascular Ultrasound. Assist the vascular surgeon in the performance of venous ablations in the OR, as well as other special procedures.
• Participate in on going quality assurance and quality improvement processes in addition to required education within the
• Echocardiography and Vascular Labs. Will share after hours on call coverage for emergencies equitably among staff. Adheres to
• departmental policies and philosophies to provide customers with the highest quality service.

Essential Functions:
Echocardiography

• Ability to perform independently high quality diagnostic echocardiographic examinations following Confluence Health's Echo department policies and procedures, adhering to the current standards established by The American Society of Echocardiography.
• Prepare a preliminary sonographer structured report including all pertinent data for the reading cardiologist in a timely and efficient manner.
• Recognize and alert the attending reading cardiologist of dangerous or critical findings which need immediate attention.
• Assist the physician in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms and other special procedures.
• Perform exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms including special valvular studies.
• Participates in the training and orientation of cardiac sonographer students completing their clinical internship.
• Maintains required continuing medical education credits for one’s professional credential and ICAEL specific requirements.
• Attends required departmental meetings, in-services, peer review and case presentations Participates and attends required quarterly quality improvement meetings and processes to satisfy the mandatory requirements of our ICAEL designation.
• Maintains Professional certification in Echocardiography through 9. ARDMS and or CCI.
• Knowledge and proficiency with current hospital information systems (EPIC), Echo structural reporting and PACs
• archive/ retrieval. Basic computer knowledge required.
• Proficient in ultrasound contrast and agitated saline studies.

 
Vascular:

• Ability to perform independently high quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound examinations following Confluence Health's Vascular department policies and procedures, adhering to the current standards established by Society of Vascular Ultrasound.
• Prepare a preliminary sonographer structured report including all pertinent data for the reading vascular surgeon in a timely and efficient manner.
• Recognize and alert the attending reading physician of dangerous or critical findings which need immediate attention.
• Assist the physician in the performance of venous ablation procedures and other special procedures.
• Participates in the training and orientation of vascular sonographer students completing their clinical internship.
• Maintains required continuing medical education credits for professional credential and IAC specific requirements.
• Attends required departmental meetings, in-services, peer review and case presentations Participates and attends required quarterly quality improvement meetings and processes to satisfy the mandatory requirements of our IAC designation.
• Maintains Professional certification in vascular ultrasound through ARDMS and or CCI.
• Knowledge and proficiency with current hospital information systems (EPIC), Vascular structural reporting and PACs archive/ retrieval
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills with physicians, colleagues and support staff in accordance with the Confluence Health standards to promote best quality patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

 
Qualifications:
Required:

• Successful completion of a two-year accredited (CAAHEP) Cardiovascular Technology or Ultrasound Program with emphasis in echocardiography.
• Minimum of 12 months previous experience in echocardiography, preferably in a hospital setting with a heart program.
• Previous performance of at least 800 complete echocardiography exams.
• Current RDCS or RCS credential from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
• Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular technology ultrasound training program (2-4 years) and 4 years full time clinical experience in a dedicated vascular laboratory. Active status RVT required. Or graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) with at least 4 years additional full-time clinical experience in a dedicated vascular lab and active status RVT. Or approximately 2 years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences with minimum of 5 years full time experience in a dedicated vascular laboratory and active status RVT.
• Current -BLS certification.-Valid state driver’s license and reliable vehicle transportation.

 
Desired:

• Pediatric echocardiography experience.
• Knowledge and or experience in Structural Heart Program (TAVR) and the specific role of Echo.
• 3D and Strain imaging Experience.
• Previous experience with Epic and Cardio Merge Structural Reporting Systems

 
Working Conditions:

• Will work in both an outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital environment.
• Assists in lifting patients and places them in appropriate positions with the use of safe patient handling equipment.
• Requires manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and depth perception for operation of equipment. Staff will share after hours hospital call coverage equitably. Travel to satellite clinics.
