Tech Credit Union has an opening for a Core System Administrator. Our Core System Administration is a key member of our Information Technology department team. In this role, you will provide input on the efficiency of Tech Credit Union's technology infrastructure to include servers and software, recommend changes or upgrades or new products due to on-going administration of the core platform, research and resolve problems for end users, install, upgrade, and maintain hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.

Essential Responsibilities of the Core System Administrator include:

  • Support the credit union’s core financial systems and business systems to ensure that back-end functions are operational.
  • Provide and run backup procedures that maintain the integrity and security of the credit union’s technology infrastructure.
  • Research and diagnose IT problems within the entire infrastructure, troubleshoot, and provide solutions. Test solutions to ensure a correct solution.
  • Reply to user problems on PCs to include software applications, systems integration, or individual hardware problems. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve the problem.
  • Provide individual support to end users via phone, in person, or online to answer questions or resolve problems. Ensure that the support provided is professional, courteous, and performed in a timely manner.
  • Install and test new PCs for systems, fax, printers, etc. Technology includes knowledge of current operating systems and languages.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation and support services / warranties for new equipment, software, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Install and test new software both for the network and for the individual users.
  • Keep abreast of state-of-the-art hardware and software developments. Recommend new technologies that enhance the efficiency and security of the network infrastructure.
  • Have expert knowledge of Tech Credit Union’s disaster recovery and business continuity plans and incident response plans.
  • Assist Information Technology supervisors in researching, planning, and implementing new technologies to improve member access and team efficiency.
  • Maintain databases and libraries including system security functions.
  • Design and maintain systems documentation according to applicable policies and standards. Ensure that documentation meets all security regulations for the credit union.
  • Coordinate technology resources including main system, telecommunications network, telephone system(s), and personal computer connectivity.
  • Maintain and administer core financial systems. Research problems, resolve issues, and evaluate vendors on an on-going basis.
  • Install new programs and update existing programs under the supervision of Information Technology supervisors.
  • Document new programs or changes to existing programs.
  • In partnership with the end user, test application software to assure accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness to achieve desired results.
  • Train users and validate ability to use and run applications. Document testing and training results.
  • Coordinate information system projects with Management, users, IT Team Members, and vendors.
  • Act as primary contact for all application systems problems. Assess. Debug, test, and document problems or recommend solutions that involve new applications. Follow up on problem resolution and inform on status.
  • Coordinate application enhancements to existing computer systems.
  • Serve as information resource for users, including determination of most appropriate data source, providing or arranging application-based report writing, or educate users to retrieve the information themselves.
  • Responsible for assigned technical aspects of conversions, file expansions, and interfaces.
  • Remain knowledgeable of operations and the computer systems within Tech Credit Union departments and branches to provide comprehensive assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualified Core System Administrator candidates will have:

  • A certificate and/or specialized training in computer operations through up to 18 months of education/training. (preferred)
  • Two years of experience providing customer service and problem resolution. (preferred)
  • A proven track record of maintaining computer systems including installing, configuring and maintaining systems including software and physical hardware.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, personal computers and installation of software.
  • The ability to work flexible hours including four shifts from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM. There may be times when this varies due to business necessity.
  • The ability to receive, comprehend, retain, and train on detailed and in-depth technical knowledge.
  • Experience with Keystone Corelation and report writing (preferred).
  • Experience with SMA OpCon.
