Provide a safe learning environment and care for children at the KinDoo Center for Enrichment. Conduct developmentally appropriate curricula and learning activities to support early literacy and social/emotional development. Work closely with other HOH Departments, and volunteers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide basic care for children to include setting schedules/routines and cleaning room/toys, etc.
  • Conduct developmentally appropriate curricula and learning activities to support early literacy and social/emotional development under the guidance of the Director of Enrichment & Engagement.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures relating to childcare are being followed.
  • Communicate with parents/caregivers of children as needed.
  • Utilize positive classroom behavior management strategies.
  • Keep records relating to child care.
  • Provide support to fellow department team members, as well as outside departments, as needed.
  • Attend training as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain a caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Must possess the stamina to keep up with the demands of young children.
  • Must be attentive to the needs and safety of children.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with volunteers.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion; maintain the confidentiality of clients, coworkers, and agency.
  • Ability to relate well to individuals of all backgrounds and socio-economic levels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, donors, volunteers, and, co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to operate and use general office equipment.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance and dress appropriately for the position.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Compliance with House of Hope policies and procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to read, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must frequently need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.

Hours: 13 Hours a week
Tuesday: 9 am to 1 pm
Thursday: 9 am to 12 pm
Friday: 9 am to 12 pm

Sometimes there are Wednesday morning All-Staff meetings in Sturat.
