About the opportunity: Staff Structural Engineer
We are currently seeking a full-time Staff Structural Engineer to help us achieve our company mission. This person will be part of the Civil/Structural team, which is responsible for structural designs in facilities such as refineries, distilleries, and consumer packaging facilities. C&I is an employee-owned, full-service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients in oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepares computer analyses and calculations.
- Initiates discussion within the project team to arrive at design solutions that give the best value for a limited constructed cost.
- Prepares complete design packages, including construction scope of work, for complex projects that meet design intents and customer expectations.
- Research national and local codes, interprets grey areas and recommends appropriate design to meet requirements.

- The Staff Structural Engineer develops subcontract scopes including compiling team needs for field investigation and testing, including surveys, laser scanning, geotechnical reports, and exploratory excavations.
- Contacts clients independently to obtain information or resolve design issues. Identifies work opportunities with existing clients.
- The Senior Structural Engineer monitors and reports progress against engineering schedules and budgets. Independently takes corrective actions to meet plan.
- With appropriate support, ensures designs are constructible.
- Understands construction techniques, limitations, and relative costs.
Minimum requirements:
- Graduation from a four-year ABET accredited college with 10 years or related experience.
- Or Graduation from a four-year ABET-accredited engineering technology college with 12 years of related experience.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- PE is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
