Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose
Create assembly and fabrication drawing packages, and mechanical bill of materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop assembly and fabrication drawings per industry standards, specifications and electrical released for production drawings.
· Release approved drawings to production.
· Create assembly, sheet metal, and bus fabrication drawings.
· Support production during assembly/fabrication process.
· Create mechanical bill of materials and log data in manufacturing data base.
· Ensure project meets requirements of field measurements and/or existing equipment.
· Maintain clean and safe work area.
· All duties assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management.
· Responsible for understanding and executing Company goals and objectives while actively contributing to the cohesiveness of the team.
Qualifications
· Education
o B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience with switchgear mechanical design.
o Non-degreed engineers must have equivalent combination of education, training, and verifiable experience.
· Experience
o MV switchgear (5KV to 38KV) Design, Metal clad and Arc Resistant.
o LV switchgear/switchboard (240V to 600V) Design.
o Non-segregated Bus Ducts systems Design.
o Electrical Enclosures Design.
o Power Distribution Centers Design.
o Relay Racks/cabinets Design.
o Sheet metal flat and bus bar flat layout design.
o Field measurements of existing equipment (travelling is required).
o Management of Project from Start to Finish.
o Structural/seismic calculation reports coordination.
o Structural/seismic calculation reports coordination.
o Load Interrupting Switchgear design.
o Unit Substations.
· Specialized knowledge
o Engineer must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings and must be familiar with Industry standards such as: IEEE, ANSI, UL, ASTM, IBC, CA Title 24, NEMA, MIL-STD,NEC, EUSERC, Utility Service Standards (ESR) and any other standards related to the design and manufacturing of switchgear systems.
· Skills
o Extensive skills in 2D AutoCAD, 3D AutoCAD and Solidworks.
o Microsoft Office application programs.
o Excellent communication skills and be willing to work in a team environment while maintaining a very high level of organization, product quality, and cost control.
o Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
o Strong visualization skills.
o Strong mathematical skills.
o Strong computer skills.
· Abilities
o Engineer must be ambitious, proactive, thrive on challenge and hard work, with a demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects.
o Engineer must show willingness to learn and work on different product lines.
o Work in team to work towards common goal.
o Able to clearly communicate with internal and external customers and all levels of management.
o Demonstrated time management skills.
o Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagrammatic form.
o Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
o Written and spoken English
· Professional Certification(s)
o AutoCAD certificate or equivalent experience.
o Solidworks certificate or equivalent experience.
