Job DescriptionJob Description

The primary purpose and goal of the Staff Accountant is to perform a variety of accounting functions including Accounts Payable, in accordance with standard procedures established in the Accounting & Finance Department.  Also, the Staff Accountant is expected to provide excellent service to CSP’s personnel, customers, vendors and the general public through effective support of financial operations.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Education and experience equivalent to an BA degree or above, with minimum of 3 years’ experience in the accounting field

·         Strong knowledge of GAAP, General Ledger and reconciliation

·         Solid communication and organizational skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

·         QuickBooks experience required

·         Strong proficiency and detailed understanding of accounting systems and related controls

·         Effective written and oral communication skills

·         Effective problem-solving skills

·         Collaborative teamwork skills and approach

·         Ability to work well under brief periods of pressure

·         Ability to maintain appropriate discretion and confidentiality

 

RESPONSIBILIES:

 

 

·         Perform routine reconciliations of various Balance Sheet accounts and timely resolution of reconciliation issues

·         Assist in the monthly close process of the financial system, including posting of journal entries

·         Ensure that accounting transactions for accounts payable are initiated, recorded, and reported in accordance with GAAP

·         Assist in preparation and coordination of various requests from external auditors, including maintaining support in auditable conditions at all times.

·         Organize incoming invoices and statements

·         Post invoices into QuickBooks ensuring assignment of expenses to correct accounts

·         Create vendor information on QuickBooks

·         Verify vendor statements and trace missing invoices and payments

·         Assist with weekly check run with appropriate documentation, and post to the check register

·         Interface with other department managers as necessary regarding A/P and Accounting issues

·         Assist with projects/tasks as required

·         Accomplish tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner
